ควบคุมการสรางโปรตีนที่เปนพิษตอแมลงจากแบคทีเรีย ชื่อ Bacillus thuringiensis ใหกับฝาย ทําให
ฝายตานทานตอหนอนเจาะสมอฝาย การถายทอดยีน Xa21 ใหกับขาวทําใหขาวตานทานตอโรคขอบ

ใบแหง (bacterial blight) ที่เกิดจากเชื้อแบคทีเรีย Xanthomonas oryzae การถายทอดยีน Phytoene

synthase ที่ควบคุมการสราง beta carotene หรือวิตามิน A ใหกับขาว ทําใหเมล็ดขาวมีวิตามิน A
สูงขึ้น หรือที่เรียกกันวา ขาวสีทอง (golden rice) เนื่องจากเมล็ดที่ไดมีสีเหลืองคลายทอง เปนตน
