research framework that could help funding agencies to identify and determine the future of

oil palm research needs that are in line with the national research policy and also support the
development of bio-based industries and high-value agricultural processing industry in

Southern Thailand. This research will benefit key stakeholders across the Thai oil palm supply
chain.

1. Oil palm grower: More research topics that address the needs of the oil palm plantation

growers.
2. Government agencies: Strategic plan for Southern Economic Corridor Research Center

of Excellence (SECr) to develop the bio-based industries and high-value agricultural
processing industry from the oil palm. Research guidelines and prioritized research

agenda needed to support the future development of the rubber industry.

3. Private sector: Specific research topics that address the needs of the palm oil processing
and manufacturers of palm oil products.

4. Researchers/Scholars: Research guideline for oil palm research direction in the future.

The results of this study on research strategic plan for the Southern Economic Corridor
Research Center of Excellence (SECr) allow funding agencies to identify research topics that

are relevant to the needs of stakeholders in the supply chain, which reduce the amount of
irrelevant and duplicate research topics and create research that has impacts on the industry.

However, the Southern Economic Corridor Research Center of Excellence (SECr) should

continue to explore other research frameworks that aim to tackle different products necessary
to promote the research center of excellence including agriculture products such as para

rubber and aquaculture.
