ABSTRACT

The objectives of this study were to determine socio-economic characteristics, opinions level and factors
affecting people opinions on sustainable protected areas management to mitigate global warming project at Chan
Thakhlem sub-district, Khao Khitchakut district, Chanthaburi province. The data gathered by employing the designed
questionnaire and interviewed 298 household representatives who located in 3 villages of Chan Thakhlem sub-

district, Khao Khitchakut district, Chanthaburi province. Statistical analysis methods employed for testing the
setting hypothesis were t-test and F-test with the given significant level of 0.05 and multiple comparison test analysis.

The results of this study indicated that the most respondents were male at 46.65 with their average age of
34.71 years. Their educational level were at primary school, and with the average number of household member
of 3.97 persons. Agriculture (farming/gardening/grow plant crops) was their major occupation. The average
annual household income was 142,610.74 baht. Their domicile were at the present residential area with the

average resettled period of 39.71 years and familiarity with the forest officers at the less level. They were having
knowledge about global warming and forest resource conservation at the high level. People opinions on sustainable
protected areas management to mitigate global warming project in the studied area were at the high level

with the average score of 3.87. Factors affecting people opinions on sustainable protected areas management
to mitigate global warming project in the studied area were age, major occupation, resettlement period,
received the relevant information, social group members being and experience in forest resource conservation.
