ABSTRACT
TITLE: Income Pattern and Family Allowance of Household Rice Farmer For Balance the
Living: Ubon Ratchathani

This study has 5 folds; (1) to study income source of each rice farmer family in
Ubon Ratchathani (2) to study the behavior of family allowance as for living and for
production process (3) to study the effective factor of self-adjustment of rice farmer families
in order to balance the livelihood (4) to study the effective factors toward allowance of
household rice farmers in Ubon Ratchathani (5) to analyze the pattern of household rice
farmers in Ubon Ratchathani as for behavior of family allowance. The research used both
quantitative and qualitative methods. It looked at a population 384 of rice farmers as for
quantitative method of data collection and other 12 of rice farmers as for qualitative method
of data collection with purposive sampling technique. The research tools were
questionnaires, semi-structure interview, and observation. The findings were as follows:
1. The income source of household rice farmers in Ubon Ratchathani are from
doing various extra jobs. Men as the house leader will with in non-agriculture sectors,
particularly freelance at the companies. Women will work as the main labor in the agriculture
sector. Farm families have two main occupations and each may have more than one job,
particularly doing commercial planting. The approximate main income is 65,175 Baht per
year. This is not a regular income of rice farmers resulting household allowance unbalanced.
2. The behaviors of family allowance as for living and for production process are
similar. They prefer installment products because of the fitful income. When harvesting time
done, rice will be sold out and money will mainly be paid for production process. The largest
expenditure is for fertilizer and chemical insecticide at 10,325.29 Baht (approx.). As for living,
the expenditure is for food and drinks at 27,772.16 Baht (approx.).
3. There are 3 effective factors toward self-adjustment as for living balance with
statistical significance at 0.01; sex, a cluster for economic purpose, and saving. This results
self-adjustment of rice farmer, particularly cultivating home vegetable gardens to decrease
