7.2 Calculations of water stress index (WSI)
To calculate the water stress index for each river basin, a general formula for calculating
the water stress index (WSI) of a basin of Pfister et al. (2009) as shown in Equation (5) is then
applied. Table 7.8 and Figure 7.1 show the results obtained from the calculations based on the
average annual water withdrawals and the water availability as shown in Table 7.1 and Table 7.6,
