ศูนย์ประสานงานวิทยาการขั้นสูงเพื่อเกษตรและอาหารลุ่มน�้าโขง [Coordinating Center for Advanced Studies
on Agriculture and Food in GMS (CASAF-GMS)] เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของศูนย์วิทยาการขั้นสูงเกษตรและอาหาร แห่งมหาวิทยาลัย
เกษตรศาสตร์ (Center for Advanced Studies for Agriculture and Food : CASAF) โดยได้ริเริ่มจากแนวคิดของ ดร.มาลี
สุวรรณอัตถ์ มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อยกระดับความสามารถทางวิชาการของประเทศไทย ผลิตงานวิจัยระดับแนวหน้าและเกิดประโยชน์
ต่อภาคการเกษตรและการผลิตอาหารของประเทศในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน�้าโขงซึ่งเปรียบเหมือน Mainland ASEAN อีกทั้งเพื่อ
เสริมสร้างความเป็นผู้น�าทางวิชาการของมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ และเตรียมความพร้อมขององค์กรเพื่อเข้าสู่ประชาคม
เศรษฐกิจอาเซียน ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของยุทธศาสตร์แห่งมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ในการน�าองค์กรสู่สากล และที่ส�าคัญมหาวิทยาลัย
เกษตรศาสตร์ มีวิทยาเขตเฉลิมพระเกียรติ จังหวัดสกลนคร ที่ตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่ยุทธศาสตร์ที่เหมาะสมต่อการเป็นศูนย์กลาง
การพัฒนาวิชาการ เพื่อสร้างความเป็นผู้น�าด้านความรู้ทางการเกษตรและอาหารสู่อนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน�้าโขง น�าไปสู่การพัฒนา
บนฐานความรู้เพื่อให้เกิดการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนในอนุภูมิภาคและประชาคมอาเซียน โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนงบประมาณ
จากมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์และมูลนิธิสวิตา
The Coordinating Center for Advanced Studies on Agriculture and Food in GMS (CASAF-GMS) is a
part of the Center for Advanced Studies for Agriculture and Food: CASAF, Kasetsart University, which was
initially established from a concept of Dr.Malee Suwana-adth to enhance academic performance of Thai students,
to also produce highly acclaimed research useful for agriculture and food production of GMS, which is said
to be ‘Mainland ASEAN’.
This center helps strengthen the role of the university as one of the leading academic institution
and prepare the University for being a part of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and pave the way to
becoming an international institution. More importantly, Chalermprakiat Sakon Nakhon campus is situated in
a strategic location suitable for being the center of educational development in agriculture and food in GMS,
which helps ensure sustainable development in the sub-region and ASEAN. The center is currently funded by
Kasetsart University and the SVITA Foundation.
